RVCD Earth Week 2024 – Day 3: Pollinators
April 24, 2024
Today’s topic: pollinators!
Pollinators play a crucial role in the survival of our world. They bring life to the transition between spring and summer, by turning flowers into food (pretty awesome if you ask me). There are many different pollinators in the world, from bats to bees, and we’re going to talk about ways you can help them thrive!
Firstly, know that different pollinators require different habitats. If you wish to create a safe haven for some Monarch caterpillars, don’t give them a mason bee hive. That won’t work out very well. Make sure to research what the habitat looks like for each species.
When gardening, choose appropriate pesticides (if using any), use them selectively, and do not apply chemicals within 125-250 feet of their habitat.
